Sinus Asperitatis is a sinus — a bay-shaped dark plain — on The Moon, 219 km across, centred at 5.4° S, 27.5° E in the Theophilus quadrangle. It is the 90th largest named feature on The Moon and the 4th largest of its class there.

Where the name comes from

"Bay of Roughness." The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 1976, under the theme it applies to every sinus on The Moon.
