Compton is a crater — a circular depression, almost always an impact scar — on The Moon, 165 km across, centred at 55.9° N, 104.1° E in the Compton quadrangle. It is the 152nd largest named feature on The Moon and the 49th largest of its class there.

Arthur Holly; American physicist, Nobel laureate (1892-1962); Karl Taylor; American physicist (1887-1954). The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 1970, under the theme it applies to every crater on The Moon.
