Aeneas is an AI model developed by Google DeepMind, University of Nottingham, University of Warwick, Athens University of Economics and Business, Google and University of Oxford (United States, United Kingdom and Greece), first published in July 2025. It works in the vision, multimodal and language domain, on tasks such as character recognition (ocr) and visual question answering.
Training it took an estimated 2.3×10²¹ FLOP of compute (estimation method: hardware). Training ran on 64 Google TPU v5e for about 168 hours.
