Rima Marcello is a rima — a fissure — a collapsed lava channel or a crack in the crust — on The Moon, 4 km across, centred at 18.6° N, 27.7° E in the Mare Serenitatis quadrangle. It is the 1828th largest named feature on The Moon and the 111th largest of its class there.
Where the name comes from
Italian male name. The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 1976, under the theme it applies to every rima on The Moon. Of the 112 features of this class catalogued on The Moon, the naming categories run Germany (19), France (19), Greek (17), Italy (12).
