What Sisyphi Tholus is
Sisyphi Tholus is a tholus — a small domical mountain or hill — on Mars, 27.5 km across, centred at 75.7° S, 18.5° W in the Mare Australe quadrangle. It is the 1153rd largest named feature on Mars and the 21st largest of its class there.
Where the name comes from
Classical albedo feature name. The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 2006, under the theme it applies to every tholus on Mars. Of the 29 features of this class catalogued on Mars, the naming categories run Greek (16), Latin (9), China (3), Great Britain (1).
What it would take to settle Sisyphi Tholus
