Elysium Catena is a catena — a chain of craters — on Mars, 48.5 km across, centred at 17.7° N, 149.7° E in the Elysium quadrangle. It is the 953rd largest named feature on Mars and the 15th largest of its class there.
Where the name comes from
Albedo feature name. The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 1985, under the theme it applies to every catena on Mars. Of the 16 features of this class catalogued on Mars, the naming categories run Greek (10), Latin (5), Roman (1).
What it would take to settle Elysium Catena
