Atlantis Chaos is a chaos — terrain broken into a jumble of blocks and hollows — on Mars, 181 km across, centred at 34.3° S, 177.3° W in the Phaethontis quadrangle. It is the 425th largest named feature on Mars and the 16th largest of its class there.
Where the name comes from
From albedo feature at 30N, 173W. The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 1985, under the theme it applies to every chaos on Mars. Of the 29 features of this class catalogued on Mars, the naming categories run Greek (16), Latin (12), Turkey (1).
