What Metrodora is
Metrodora is a crater — a circular depression, almost always an impact scar — on Vesta, 24 km across, centred at 59.4° S, 100.5° E. It is the 46th largest named feature on Vesta and the 30th largest of its class there.
Where the name comes from
Claudia Metrodora; Greek woman with Roman citizenship, prominent public benefactor (mid 1st century A.D.). The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 2014, under the theme it applies to every crater on Vesta.
