What Zewana Chasma is
Zewana Chasma is a chasma — a deep, steep-sided canyon — on Venus, 900 km across, centred at 9.0° N, 148.0° W in the Ulfrun Regio quadrangle. It is the 216th largest named feature on Venus and the 24th largest of its class there.
Where the name comes from
W. Slavic/Polish hunting goddess. The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 1997, under the theme it applies to every chasma on Venus. Of the 63 features of this class catalogued on Venus, the naming categories run Siberia (5), Slavic (4), Caucasus (4), Greek (3).
What it would take to settle Zewana Chasma
