Rima Gartner is a rima — a fissure — a collapsed lava channel or a crack in the crust — on The Moon, 42.7 km across, centred at 58.8° N, 35.8° E in the Aristoteles quadrangle. It is the 1131st largest named feature on The Moon and the 86th largest of its class there.
Where the name comes from
Within crater. The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 1964, under the theme it applies to every rima on The Moon. Of the 112 features of this class catalogued on The Moon, the naming categories run Germany (19), France (19), Greek (17), Italy (12).
