What Fea Fossae is
Fea Fossae is a fossa — a long, narrow depression — on Venus, 620 km across, centred at 27.5° N, 136.0° W in the Bellona Fossae quadrangle. It is the 313th largest named feature on Venus and the 16th largest of its class there.
Where the name comes from
Gaelic war goddess. The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 1997, under the theme it applies to every fossa on Venus. Of the 31 features of this class catalogued on Venus, the naming categories run Greek (4), Norse (3), Siberia (2), Slavic (2).
