Gortyna Flexus is a flexus — a low curved ridge with a scalloped pattern — on Europa, 940 km across, centred at 42.1° S, 144.6° W. It is the 43rd largest named feature on Europa and the 3rd largest of its class there.
Where the name comes from
Place on Crete where Zeus brought Europa. The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 1979, under the theme it applies to every flexus on Europa.
