Rutherford is a crater — a circular depression, almost always an impact scar — on The Moon, 16 km across, centred at 10.6° N, 137.1° E in the Mendeleev quadrangle. It is the 1590th largest named feature on The Moon and the 1301st largest of its class there.

Where the name comes from

Sir Ernest; New Zealand-British physicist; Nobel laureate (1871-1937). The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 1976, under the theme it applies to every crater on The Moon.
