What Nia Tholus is
Nia Tholus is a tholus — a small domical mountain or hill — on Mars, 34 km across, centred at 6.6° S, 74.9° W in the Coprates quadrangle. It is the 1073rd largest named feature on Mars and the 19th largest of its class there.
Where the name comes from
Classical albedo feature name. The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 2013, under the theme it applies to every tholus on Mars. Of the 29 features of this class catalogued on Mars, the naming categories run Greek (16), Latin (9), China (3), Great Britain (1).
What it would take to settle Nia Tholus
