What Eden Patera is
Eden Patera is a patera — an irregular or scalloped-edged crater, usually volcanic — on Mars, 80 km across, centred at 33.8° N, 11.1° W in the Mare Acidalium quadrangle. It is the 756th largest named feature on Mars and the 11th largest of its class there.
Where the name comes from
Classical albedo feature name. The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 2012, under the theme it applies to every patera on Mars. Of the 30 features of this class catalogued on Mars, the naming categories run Greek (20), Latin (8), Hebrew (2).
What it would take to settle Eden Patera
