Where the name comes from

Named from the classical albedo feature name Ogygis Regio. The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 1976, under the theme it applies to every rupes on Mars. Of the 27 features of this class catalogued on Mars, the naming categories run Greek (17), Latin (5), Roman (1), Egypt (1).
