What Virtus Linea is
Virtus Linea is a linea — a long, dark or bright marking — on Venus, 500 km across, centred at 12.0° N, 21.0° E in the Sappho Patera quadrangle. It is the 420th largest named feature on Venus and the 15th largest of its class there.
Where the name comes from
Roman war goddess. The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 1997, under the theme it applies to every linea on Venus. Of the 17 features of this class catalogued on Venus, the naming categories run Celtic (3), Roman (2), Hawaii (1), Wales (1).
What it would take to settle Virtus Linea
