What Cholpon is
Cholpon is a crater — a circular depression, almost always an impact scar — on Venus, 6.3 km across, centred at 40.0° N, 70.0° W in the Beta Regio quadrangle. It is the 1882nd largest named feature on Venus and the 789th largest of its class there.
Where the name comes from
Kyrgyz first name. The International Astronomical Union approved the name in 1997, under the theme it applies to every crater on Venus. Of the 881 features of this class catalogued on Venus, the naming categories run American (88), Russia (55), France (47), England (47).
What it would take to settle Cholpon
